We are a house of runny noses and sore throats over here. I woke up Saturday feeling all-over garbagy. A sinus cold that made me feel like my eyes were going to pop out of my head and a throat that felt all swollen and like I was constantly swallowing sand. Gross. I know that I can sometimes be a bit dramatic but I kid you not when I tell you that this is what I looked like when I woke up
I dragged myself into the living room, feeling entirely sorry for myself, where Andrew looked up and said “what`s your problem?”
Me: Well, that`s not very supportive!
Andrew: Sorry, you`re right. (putting an arm around my shoulder and making his voice more gentle) What is your problem? That better?
As a nurse, you would think that I would manage the common cold fairly well. You would think that, but you would be wrong. I whined, sniffed, coughed, and moaned for much of the day. When asked if I had any idea about what to make for dinner, I responded like this
Thomas, although suffering from the same symptoms, handled the whole thing infinitely better than his baby of a mum. I think it was because he was distracted by his new best friend, Jedi, the black cat that we are looking after. They spent most of the weekend cuddled up in our bed or on the couch watching old christmas movies while I whined and pestered Andrew to put the kettle on to refill my hot water bottle because I am clearly an 85 year old grandma.
Thankfully, we are on the upside of this miserable cold now and although we have spent a small fortune in kleenex, it was kind of nice to stay in pajamas and laze around the house, napping in various locations throughout the day, as though we were all a bunch of Jedi`s (the cat, not the Star Wars ones).
Hope you are all healthy and happy!
